Day Trips, Excursions, Sightseeing If you'd like to see more of Gran Canaria, but don't want the hassle of organising your own transport, there are lots of boat trips and coach trips or safaris to the mountains which you can book in local travel agents. Choose carefully; you could find yourself spending a day with a party of tourists with whom you have little in common, and who don't speak the same language as you. Jeep safaris can be fun, but be prepared for a bumpy ride, and make sure you've got enough sun protection and water (you may also need something warmer to put on in the mountains). Again, choose carefully, make sure you check what's included and that there's proper insurance cover. The gay quad bike safari run by Maspalomas Aventura is highly recommended (we get feedback from hotel reception desks, so we know) - plus they have a good reputation for their organisation, safety and insurance. Boat trips along the south coast of the island are popular, and are a good way to get a different view of the island. Pub Nestor run a gay catamaran trip once a week, which is competitively-priced. If you want to go further afield, it's easy to take the ferry to Tenerife and spend a day exploring the capital Santa Cruz, or if you're feeling really adventurous, there are one-day safaris to The Gambia you can book in local travel agents. |
