Day 4 - Monday, April 13, 2025
Our day starts with a leisurely breakfast at The Imperial, but soon after, we’ll head to Delhi Safdurjung Railway Station to board the Maharajas’ Express! At noon, we’ll have a full briefing, including details about several optional excursions for purchase, followed by lunch. At 2pm, we arrive in Agra, home to the Taj Mahal, a symbol of love and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan constructed this architectural masterwork in remembrance of his beloved queen, Mumtaz Mahal. The whole structure is made entirely of white marble, featuring beautiful inlay work and marble screens.
Agra’s history extends far beyond the Taj Mahal. It was once the seat of the Mughal Empire, a powerful dynasty that ruled India for centuries. This rich heritage is evident in the city’s majestic forts and bustling bazaars. As you explore, don’t miss Agra’s famous petha, a sweet local treat made from candied vegetables.
After exploring the Taj Mahal, you’ll be escorted back to our royal chariot. Alternatively, you can opt to participate in several optional activities. Our Guest Relations Executive will be delighted to assist you in arranging these activities onboard. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included.

Day 5 - Tuesday, April 14, 2026
Continue your Agra exploration with an early morning visit to the majestic Agra Fort, a reminder of the city’s Mughal legacy. After learning about its history, return to the Maharajas’ Express and enjoy a relaxed, tantalizing breakfast onboard as we move toward our next destination, Ranthambore National Park. Lunch will be served onboard during the journey.
Upon arrival in Ranthambore, be ready for a thrilling game drive in the former hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur, now a national park. The park was declared as Ranthambore National Park in 1973. The park is spread over 1,334 square km and has a unique topography, including rivers, lakes, cliffs, and rocky terrain, creating diverse habitats for various wildlife. Keep your eyes open for Bengal Tigers, elusive leopards, and other animals like spotted deer, sambar deer, chital, chinkara, nilgai, sloth bear, wild boar, hyena, and jackal.
Remember, spotting a Bengal Tiger is a proper stroke of luck on these open jeep safaris, which offer an inimitable experience but can be bumpy and dusty. Don’t forget to dress in layers to account for shifting temperatures throughout the afternoon.
As the sun sets, return to the comfort of the Maharajas’ Express and enjoy your freshly made delicious dinner as the train continues its journey toward India’s “Pink City,” Jaipur.

Upon arrival, a grand traditional welcome befitting royalty sets the tone for your exciting exploration of Jaipur. Built-in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I and completed by Mirja Raja Singh, the fort is primarily constructed from white marble and red sandstones. While the fort’s exterior emanates rugged magnificence, the interior sanctum reveals a paradise of art and architecture. The timeless charm and the romantic aura of this majestic fort-palace will surely mesmerize you.
A short jeep ride will take you to the fort, where you’ll explore the royal apartments, offering a stunning view of the gorge. Step back into the Mughal era as you explore the Chamber of Mirrors (Sheesh Mahal) and the Hall of Victory.

Once the home of the Maharajas of Jaipur, the palace now graces the city as a luxurious hotel. Even now, the palace holds its royal majesty, attracting visitors with hand-carved marble latticework and expensive, intricately designed gardens.
With lingering memories of your royal dining experience, board the Maharajas’ Express by 9pm as the train departs for Bikaner.

Upon arriving in Udaipur, we’ll head to Lake Pichola, where a boat ride to the City Palace, the largest palace in Rajasthan, awaits. Situated amidst Lake Pichola, this architectural masterpiece is adorned with scalloped arches, ornate domes, and fretted balconies. Visit Mor Chowk, one of the highlights of the palace. Here, you can see the intricate picture of three peacocks made from small mosaic pieces. These peacocks represent three seasons: summer, monsoon, and winter. Next, explore Moti Mahal (the Pearl Palace), known for its beautiful mirror work and among the many stunning rooms of the palace. Then, visit the Chini Mahal and Zenana Mahal.
