Traveling to Japan by cruise ship is best described as a balance between convenience and immersion... You get a taste of many incredible destinations without the hassle of packing and unpacking.
Experience Japanese culture with an adventure in Tokyo that celebrates tea, the art of calligraphy, and the essence of the Japanese spirit. In Kochi, don a helmet and headlamp and explore the cavernous natural wonder known as the Ryugado Cave, a National Natural Monument. Stroll through a 17th-century garden and survey 700 years of history at a museum devoted to Satsuma’s Shimazu clan in Kagoshima.
Take in all the sights of Tokyo on a cruise to Japan. As the country’s capital city, Tokyo is Japan’s leading center of business and finance yet also boasts deep roots in history. In the heart of the city, a dense forest glade shrouds visitors from the bustle and houses the Meiji Shrine, its setting symbolizing the separation of the spiritual from the worldly. Nearby, surrounded by stone walls, park area and moats, stands the Imperial Palace. With the Tokyo Tower and Mt. Fuji in view, experience the harmony of modern and ancient on a cruisetour of Japan.
Explore Kochi Castle, a designated Japanese National Treasure, and the only castle in the country with its original wooded interior, castle tower, and impressive entrance still intact. Step into Japan’s ancient past with a tour of Aomori’s Sannai-Maruyama ruins, which date back 5,500 years and are designated a Special National Historical Site. Get a bird’s-eye view of Tokyo and Mount Fuji from the special observatory atop Tokyo Tower.
Be dazzled by the panoramic views of Japan's iconic Mount Fuji, an active volcano and the most popular tourist site in the country.

Day 1 - Tokyo (Yokohama), Japan
Tokyo, Japan's bustling capital, mixes the ultra-modern and the traditional, from neon-lit skyscrapers to historic temples.
The opulent Shinto Meiji Shrine is known for its towering gate and surrounding forests. The Imperial Palace is located in the middle of large public gardens. Tokyo is separated into different wards, with Shinjuku being the most well-known and the most crowded. The gay community is continuously growing within the confines of Shinjuku Ni-chome (Area 2) neighbourhood. Seemingly straight by day, Ni-chome turns gay by night. The fun begins the moment you board the Diamond Princess - which has been designed from bow to stern for your enjoyment as well as to experience Japan even while still onboard the ship. As we sail out of Yokohama (near Tokyo), we’ll gather for a hosted Daddy Cruises party.
Day 2 - Fun Day at Sea!
Our first full day is at sea. Relax, unwind and get into vacation mode. Lounge on your private balcony or near one of the pools, or maybe even find a quiet nook to settle in with a book. Want to be more active on your day at sea? Play bingo, work out at the gym, watch a movie, dance all night, attend a cooking seminar, soak in a hot tub, watch a sunset (or a sunrise), play trivia games, sing along at the piano bar, do some wine tasting, check your email or surf the internet, grab a snack, watch live entertainment, get lucky in the casino, indulge in a spa treatment, catch the game in the sports bar, and on and on…
Day 3 - Hakodate, Japan If you’re into fresh seafood, Hakodate’s Morning Market is a must-visit. It spans four lively blocks and is packed with stalls selling everything from salmon roe and sea urchin to scallops and crab—basically, sushi heaven. You’ll also find plenty of spots serving up domburi (rice bowls) topped with the catch of the day. Come hungry!
Day 4 - Niigata, Japan Niigata is a total gem for food lovers—famous for its top-notch rice and sake (yes, the kind that makes dinner feel a little more festive). But that’s just the beginning. Thanks to its prime spot along the Sea of Japan, Niigata is also a seafood superstar. And for a spiritual detour, swing by Yahiko, home to Yahiko Shrine, a sacred spot that’s been a local favorite for over 1,000 years. Whether you’re into history, craftsmanship, or just soaking up some peaceful vibes, Niigata’s got you covered.
Day 5 - Fun Day at Sea! After so much fun and excitement in northern Japan, you’ll be ready for a relaxing day at sea as we head to South Korea. Perfect to do all the stuff you wanted to do on Day 2 but didn’t. Or, do nothing at all and just relax!
Day 6 - Busan, South Korea
A sprawling port city in South Korea, is known for its beaches, mountains and temples. Busy Haeundae Beach features the marine life aquarium as well as a folk plaza with traditional games such as tug-of-war, while Gwangalli Beach has plenty of bars and views of the modern Diamond Bridge.
Day 7 - Nagasaki, Japan
Nagasaki is a Japanese city on the northwest coast of the island of Kyushu. It is located in a large natural port and is surrounded by hills where buildings sit. The city played a crucial role in one of the key moments of World War II, when it suffered american's nuclear attack in August 1945. This event is remembered and commemorated both in the Atomic Bomb Museum and in the Park of peace.
Day 8 - Kagoshima, Japan
Most people know Kagoshima because of Sakurajima, which is one of the most active volcanoes in Japan. It never gets boring to watch the ash billowing into the sky in a sudden eruption. And Kagoshima is also well known for the island of Yakushima, found just south of Kagoshima.
Day 9 - Kochi, Japan
In addition to top sightseeing destinations and historic sights, Kochi is well known for the informal, folksy appeal of local markets and activities, and rustic food halls. Exploring the Kochi countryside is also a must for seeing some of the most beautiful and natural tourist destinations in Japan.
Day 10 - Shimizu (for Mt. Fuji), Japan
Shimizu Port has a number of attractions but is most famous for being among Japan's most scenic ports thanks to views of Mount Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan, Shimizu Port is generally considered to be one of the three most beautiful ports in Japan, along with the ports of Kobe and Nagasaki.
Day 11 - Tokyo (Yokohama), Japan
Welcome back to Tokyo–enriched and inspired, and full of memories that will last a lifetime! Join us for our post-cruise tour of Tokyo (extra fee).
