Mention the Virgin Islands, and most people think of the U.S. Virgin or British Virgin Islands. Yet, just 15-20 miles from these islands, and only 6 miles to the east of Puerto Rico, lays the Spanish Virgin Islands, also known as the "Passage Islands". The Spanish Virgin Islands have always been a well-kept secret, even back in the days of Bluebeard and other famous pirates who used the islands for hide-outs.

Pristine and unspoiled islands, with spacious deserted white sandy beaches; crystal clear turquoise blue water, and healthy intact reefs teeming with fish, coral and crustaceans. There are hills to climb and explore; nearly empty anchorages, and the natural charm of the BVI from thirty-five years ago.

The Spanish Virgin Islands are easily reached from the eastern coast of Puerto Rico, out of the town of Fajardo, where your sailing vessel will be berthed.

Even though Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the U.S., its strong Spanish heritage has remained. It is worthwhile to take a few days before or after your cruise to explore the island.

While mainland, Puerto Rico has plenty of great sites. Your true, sailing cruise adventure begins as you explore the islands known as the Spanish Virgins. Leaving Fajardo and sailing across the Vieques Sound, Isla Palominos is a great introduction to this area.

Some of the Caribbean’s best diving and snorkeling is on Culebra, whose reefs are also protected by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Pristine coral reefs and clear calm waters provide an amazing opportunity to observe barracuda, stingrays, parrotfish, trumpet fish, blue tangs, deep purple sea fans, and a variety of colorful coral, as well as a chance to swim with sea turtles.

Spanish Virgin Islands Gay Sailing Cruise Itinerary

Our voyage start on Saturday at 2pm and ends the following Saturday morning.

Your trip will start, or end at Puerto del Rey Marina in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.

Day 1, Saturday - Fajardo, Puerto Rico
Boarding starts at 2 pm with a Pain Killer cocktail to wash your travels away! Before we embark and head to our first anchorage, we will have a boat briefing to go over a few rules of the road and get everyone accommodated for their stay. After we are all settled in, we head out for an evening sail to a close, more private anchorage on the southwest corner of Isla Pineros.

Day 2, Sunday - Flamenco Island - Punta Tamarindo
Breakfast aboard, followed by our longest sail of the trip to beautiful Flamenco Island, where we will harbor for two nights, at different anchorages. The first night we will anchor in Punta Tamarindo, a beautiful beach anchorage off the west coast of the island. Lunch and Dinner will be served on the boat. The rest of the day will be reserved for relaxing, swimming and enjoying the views.

Day 3, Monday - Flamenco Bay
Breakfast aboard, followed by a sail around the island to Flamenco Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean! We will do lunch this day ashore at the local beach bar, before heading out to our anchorage for the night in Bahia de Tortuga, main Anchorage on Culebrita island. Here we will enjoy an amazing sunset and dinner aboard.

Day 4, Tuesday - Culebra
Breakfast aboard, followed by a hike to El Faro, an abandoned light atop the 300 ft Hill, breathtaking. After our morning adventure, we are off to civilization for a wonderful dinner in Culebra. We will have a short sail into Culebra, then it’s time for adventures on land! Lunch will be aboard, and dinner will be ashore.

Day 5, Wednesday - Vieques - Bioluminescent Bay
Breakfast aboard, then we set sail for Vieques. During our sail, we will cocktail and eat some lunch and do some deep-sea fishing. Once dusk hits we will venture in by dinghy to see the magic happen! Dinner aboard.

As mentioned most of your food and beverages are included in your cruise fee. Once you are booked to sail with us, we will send you a welcome email, specific charter info, as well as a questionnaire for food and beverage preferences.

Transportation Information
Shuttle, taxi, and water taxi are the best ways to travel the Caribbean islands. We will include the best options for these and airlines in your Informational Welcome Email. Each Virgin Island location has it's own special travel circumstances.

Clothing, optional?
This is your adventure, make it what you'd like. We just ask that you respect the others guests aboard the charter, and while we are in ports and busy anchorages, you keep the important parts covered up. We will ensure you plenty of private time for sunbathing and swimming during our trip.

Will I get Seasickness?
This is an adventurous trip, we're sailing on the border of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. There is a good possibility you could feel nauseous or end up getting sick. Plan ahead and you will have no problems. There are several motion sickness medications and applications available at your local drug store.

What should I bring?
Luckily you won't need much, a few outfits and swimsuits and you're golden. Other key items: bring whatever identification you will need to enter the region we are sailing. Ocean safe sunscreen is important and lots of it. Quick drying swimsuits are key and neoprene water socks for snorkeling and beachcombing are recommended. For your comfort and the protection of our boats, please try and bring soft-sided luggage, if you can. To help protect our environment, we encourage the use of ocean safe lotions and soaps.

What's Not Included?
Our packages offer a one-off price, so you know exactly what to expect. This doesn't however include your restaurant dinners, alcohol or crew gratuities.

What can you expect?
We hope you have the trip of a lifetime and you tell all your friends about your amazing adventure. We can guarantee many wonderful memories being made, plenty of relaxation and exploration. Lots of swimming, sailing, snorkeling, and beachcombing. Plus, whatever other gay shenanigans come up!

These boats feature two or more full bathrooms, plus an aft deck shower to bathe or rinse off in after a swim. Not so surprising, the aft deck shower is a real hit with the guys chartering and often involves much less clothing than shown!

Gay catamaran plan

Other accommodations include a full kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining spaces, and comfy netting space between the hulls for watching the water and dolphins pass by. These boats are made for long range, ocean-bound voyages. You are in good hands and great accommodations during your stay!
