We start our day exploring Georgia’s lively capital, where ancient charm and modern artistry intertwine. As the largest city in the country, Tbilisi welcomes us with a fascinating mix of winding alleys, hillside neighborhoods, and colorful terraced homes.

Rise and shine!

After breakfast, we’ll journey east to the Kakheti region, Georgia’s soul-stirring wine country, where stunning landscapes meet 8,000 years of winemaking tradition.

Our first stop is the hilltop town of Sighnaghi, often referred to as the “City of Love.” This charming 18th-century village features cobblestone streets, pastel houses, and ancient city walls that offer sweeping views over the Alazani Valley and the distant Caucasus mountains.

We’ll then continue to Kvareli, where a warm Georgian welcome awaits. Hosted by a local family, we’ll sit down to a traditional lunch made with just-picked produce from their garden.

Then we’ll roll up our sleeves for a hands-on churchkhela and bread-making masterclass.

This afternoon, our culinary journey continues with a visit to the renowned Kindzmarauli winery, where we’ll sample Georgia’s signature wines paired with artisanal local cheeses in a showcase of the region’s unique terroir and flavor profiles.

This evening, we’ll check into our hotel in Kvareli and have time to unwind before we gather for a delicious, included dinner.

Day 4 - Kvareli
This morning, we set out for Gremi Architectural Complex, a striking 16th-century citadel that once served as the royal capital of the Kakheti region. Gremi’s ancient stone towers offer perfect photo opportunities and a quiet moment to imagine Georgia’s medieval past.

Next, we’ll journey to Telavi, the administrative heart of Kakheti, nestled in the lush Alazani Valley. Upon arrival, we’ll take a short walking tour of the old town and visit the local farmer’s market.

Our next stop brings us to the elegant estate of Prince Alexander Chavchavadze in Tsinandali. This 19th-century noble residence includes a beautifully restored manor, a European-style landscape garden filled with exotic trees, and the historic Tsinandali winery, home to the very first bottled Georgian wine.

Later, we’ll continue to Chateau Mosmieri, a boutique winery perched amid sweeping vineyards and framed by the towering Caucasus Mountains. Here, we’ll enjoy a traditional Georgian lunch, paired with a view that’s as indulgent as the flavors on your plate.

This afternoon, we’ll make one final stop at a local wine cellar to experience Georgia’s ancient winemaking tradition firsthand. We’ll taste the bold, earthy wines made using this ancestral technique and raise a toast to a day steeped in history, hospitality, and heritage.

Georgia gay tour - Ananuri

Day 5 - Stepantsminda
Ready for epic mountain views? Today’s the day!

After breakfast, we’ll hit the road heading north, passing through the peaceful town of Tianeti before ascending the legendary Georgian Military Highway, a historic mountain route that winds its way toward the Russian border.

Our first stop is the 17th-century Ananuri Architectural Complex, an evocative ensemble of stone buildings and watchtowers overlooking the turquoise waters of the Zhinvali Reservoir. With its magnificent carvings, arched windows, and fortified walls, Ananuri offers one of the finest examples of medieval Georgian artistry.

From there, our route becomes even more scenic, as we wind through high mountain passes and emerald valleys. The drive itself is a feast for the senses, as we pass dramatic cliffs, alpine meadows, and storybook villages nestled between towering ridges.

Around midday, we’ll stop for an included lunch at Guda, a beloved local restaurant known for its rustic ambiance and traditional mountain fare.

Afterwards, we’ll continue toward Stepantsminda, a quiet mountain town cradled at the foot of the mighty Mount Kazbegi.

Tonight, we’ll gather for an included dinner at our hotel.

Georgia gay tour - Gergeti

Day 6 - Truso Valley / Gergeti
Fuel up, because we’re venturing into the untouched beauty of the Truso Valley, a remote landscape that captures the soul of Georgia’s highlands!

After a scenic drive along the main road, we’ll begin a roughly 3-hour hike through this striking region, passing through nearly abandoned villages marked by ancient stone towers. Along the way, we’ll witness the enduring spirit of mountain life in one of Georgia’s most secluded corners, where dramatic cliffs and volcanic streams unfold around every bend, offering plenty of photo opportunities.

Once we’ve gotten our steps in, we’ll return to Stepantsminda for a traditional Georgian lunch featuring khinkali, the beloved mountain dumplings of the region. Stuffed with savory meat and fragrant spices, khinkali is more than just a dish; it’s a symbol of hospitality and pride.

This afternoon, we’ll drive through sweeping valleys and quiet woodlands to reach Gergeti Trinity Church, perched at 7,119 ft. (2,170m) above sea level. Here, we’ll marvel at one of Georgia’s most famous landmarks, a solitary 14th-century church perched beneath the shadow of mighty Mount Kazbegi. Weather permitting, we may be treated to a view of the glacier-capped summit.

Afterward, we’ll return to our hotel and have the evening and dinner at our leisure.

Day 7 - Mtskheta / Tbilisi
This morning, we’ll begin our return journey to Tbilisi.

Along the way, we’ll stop in Mtskheta, the ancient capital and one of the country’s most sacred cities. Here, we’ll visit two of Georgia’s most revered religious landmarks, both recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

First is the 6th-century Jvari Church, perched high above the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers.

Then we’ll walk the grounds of Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, an 11th-century masterpiece believed to house the Robe of Christ. These sacred sites hold deep significance for Georgians and offer a powerful glimpse into the country’s ancient Christian heritage.

After an included lunch, we’ll continue to Tbilisi, where the afternoon and evening will be ours to enjoy at leisure.

Wander the cobbled lanes of the Old Town, browse for souvenirs, or simply relax at a café and take in the ambiance of this spellbinding capital.

Next, we’ll unveil the eclectic spirit of Aghmashenebeli Street, which blends restored Belle Époque buildings with modern boutiques and cafés.

Then we’ll make our way to the Fabrika district, a once-abandoned Soviet sewing factory that’s been transformed into a creative hub, now buzzing with galleries, design shops, and street art.

We’ll have lunch and the afternoon at our leisure before gathering for a special farewell dinner at Café Littera, an elegant restaurant tucked within the historic Writers’ House of Georgia. Trip Notes

Georgia Visa
Georgia has a liberal visa policy. Citizens from the U.S., Canada, the U.K., EU, Australia, and over 90 other countries can enter visa-free for up to one year. Your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay. Always double-check entry requirements with your nearest Georgian embassy or consulate before travel.

Culture Shock
Georgian culture is deeply rooted in tradition, hospitality, and a strong sense of pride in national identity. Visitors are often struck by the warmth with which they’re welcomed. Toasting rituals are central to social gatherings, led by a tamada (toastmaster), and can turn any meal into a heartfelt celebration.

Local LGBT Scene
Mostly centered in the capital city of Tbilisi, where a small but passionate community has carved out spaces for self-expression, activism, and visibility. While mainstream acceptance is still a work in progress and public displays of affection may attract attention, Pride events and artistic movements continue to push boundaries and foster dialogue.

Gergeti Georgia

Expect long, sunny days with daytime temperatures ranging from 77°F to 90°F (25°C to 32°C) in lowland areas like Tbilisi and Kakheti. The air is dry and golden in the wine valleys, perfect for vineyard visits and alfresco dining. Qarvasla Hotel, Tbilisi

Starting & Finishing Point Hotel
Qarvasla Hotel, Tbilisi
Right in the heart of Tbilisi’s Old Town, Qarvasla is one of those hotels that feels like a little secret. From the outside, it radiates classic Georgian elegance: arched windows, decorative balconies, and that signature blend of Persian-meets-European architecture the city wears so well.

Qarvasla Hotel interior

Inside, things get sleek. The design leans brutalist but with minimalist couches, exposed brick, and ornate light fixtures that make you want to sink into a corner with a glass of Saperavi while people-watching (don’t worry, the lobby has perfect angles for that). There’s also a bar, small gym, and a massage suite.

Qarvasla Hotel room

Rooms are cozy and well-appointed, with soft tones, clean lines, and modern features fused with traditional touches like exposed brick. The beds are *chef’s kiss* comfy, and the bathrooms? Floor-to-ceiling tile with texture accents that give castle vibes.

Qarvasla Hotel breakfast

You’re also within walking distance of everything from sulfur baths to hidden wine bars, so if Tbilisi decides to sweep you off your feet (and it will), you’ll be perfectly placed for the ride.
