Denali Alaska All-Lesbian Adventure Tour
June 26 July 1, 2019
Anchorage, Denali National Park
Denali National Park should be at the top of every adventurer’s bucket list. This astounding destination extends over six million acres of preserved wilderness and is home to majestic Mount McKinley (now officially known as Mt. Denali or ‘the Great One’ in the Denaina Athabascan language), the highest peak in North America. The pristine wilderness of Alaska is, perhaps, the last bastion of thriving populations of North American wildlife. With breathtaking scenery, unique wildlife sightings and an opportunity to immerse yourself in the pure, untamed wilderness of Alaska, we invite you to join the women of Olivia on a journey to Denali National Park!
Day 1 - Wednesday, June 26, 2019
Upon arrival in Anchorage, you will be transferred to the Hilton Anchorage Hotel, located right in downtown Anchorage. Depending on what time you book your flight, you will have the afternoon and evening free to explore Anchorage and enjoy dinner.
Hotel: Hilton Anchorage Hotel, Anchorage, 4*
Day 2 - Thursday, June 27, 2019
Today, after breakfast you’ll board your coach for adventures in and outside of Anchorage! You will start at the Alaska Native Heritage Center, an educational and cultural center that presents demonstrations, indoor exhibits and outdoor village sites of Alaska Native culture. Here you’ll be introduced to Native traditions and customs of both the past and present. Alaska is home to five major and distinct Native cultural groups: Aleut, Yupik, Inupiaq, Athabascan, and Tlingit.
The Welcome House is a celebration of contemporary Alaska Native cultures, while the outdoor facilities and sites allow the exploration of ancient tradition and the presentation of stories from the past.
Next, you’ll take in some highlights of Anchorage as you go by Lake Hood, the largest floatplane airport in the world, before being dropped off at Earthquake Park, where you’ll make your way to the Coastal Trail for a short walk out to the scenic overlook of the city. You’ll hear stories about the founding and history of Anchorage: from a tent city construction camp for the Alaska Railroad to the WWII military build up to the 1964 earthquake, to oil discovery and present-day Anchorage.
After taking in the wonderful views, your coach will meet you at the scenic overlook and will take you for a scenic drive through the Anchorage Hillside and then along Turnagain Arm where the Chugach Mountains dramatically rise directly out of the sea. Keep your eyes on the lookout for Dall sheep and sometimes visitors are lucky enough to see a Beluga whale swimming just off shore.
You’ll continue through the Chugach National Forest to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center for up-close visits with rescued wildlife such as bears, moose, caribou, owls, eagles, and more. You’ll have time to visit the gift shop that helps support the Wildlife Conservation Center—100% of the proceeds go back to the center.
After enjoying your time at the Alaska Wildlife Conversation Center, you will board your coach for Anchorage and your hotel.
You’ll then return to your hotel to relax and freshen up for the evening. Tonight you’ll get an opportunity to meet and hear a fun and inspiring presentation by the Yukon Quest International Dog Mushing champion and Iditarod Race dog musher, Aliy Zirkle. Aliy will tell remarkable stories about life on the trail with her canine team and show amazing photos of the remote terrain she’s traveled through.
After this inspiring presentation, you can choose a restaurant for dinner on your own.

The views are magnificent and you’ll have a good chance of seeing wildlife along the way. You’ll have many opportunities for picture-taking as you take in the amazing scenery all along the way.
Upon your arrival to Denali, you will get an orientation of the town on the way to your hotel, the Grande Denali Lodge. After getting checked in and settled, you will have some free time before meeting in the Grande Denali Lodge’s lounge/bar, for your welcome wine and cheese reception and dinner with your new Olivia friends!

Day 4 - Saturday, June 29, 2019

It takes all eyes to look for and spot moose, caribou, Dall sheep, Denali grizzly bears, the elusive wolves and more. You’ll learn how to spot wildlife as you travel through the park. When wildlife is spotted, your naturalist will share information about the animal you are viewing while getting the bus in the best position for all to see and snap that perfect shot.
After returning from the park, you will have the afternoon and evening free for exciting optional tours such as small plane flightseeing around Mt. Denali, whitewater rafting, driving an ATV in the wild or visiting the home of the four-time Iditarod winner, Jeff King and having the opportunity to hold some husky pups!
